05Questions
- What happens when the trial ends?
- You land on Free and keep working. Every flag, environment and teammate stays, and you can still turn anything off, which matters more than any of it: we will never freeze your kill switch over a billing state. What Free does not carry is a second project, staging, emergency off and Slack alerts. The same is true if a card fails later.
- Do you charge for evaluations?
- No, and there is no monthly cap. Flags are evaluated inside your own app, so we do not charge for traffic. The evaluation count on your Billing tab is a usage stat, not a quota.
- How do you decide who is in the 10% without my user list?
- You never upload a user list, and for a percentage rollout in the SDK's default local mode the identifier never leaves your process at all. Your app passes an identifier, it is hashed with the flag key into a number from 0 to 99, and under 10 means that person is in the 10%. Nothing is counted and nothing waits for a minimum, so the first user to reach a flag is decided on their own identifier alone. It is also stable: the same person always gets the same answer, and raising the percentage only ever adds people, so nobody loses a feature mid-rollout. If you need exactly a hundred people rather than roughly a tenth, use first-N instead, which is the one mode that does store the identifiers it has admitted, because counting distinct people means remembering which people.
- What happens if LaunchFlag goes down?
- Your app keeps working. The SDK holds the last rule set it fetched and keeps serving from it, and it never throws into your code. For a process that has never reached us at all, you decide the answer in your own code with the SDK's defaults option, which is the only thing that can work when we are unreachable.
- Do you charge per seat?
- No. Every paid plan takes as many teammates as you like and the price never moves when you add someone. The product is a switch you can pull from your phone at 2am, so charging for the people allowed to pull it would be a safety problem before it was a pricing one. That includes Free: seats were never the right thing to charge for. What Free trades away is staging, emergency off, a second project and audit depth.
- What is the difference between Pro and Launch?
- Three numbers. Projects (1 against 3), environments (3 against 3, Launch adding staging and promotion) and audit history (7 days against 30). Launch also adds emergency off and Slack or Discord alerts. Flags, evaluations, teammates, targeting, multivariate flags and roles are the same on both.
- What if I am already over a limit?
- Nothing is deleted and nobody loses access. You keep every project and every member you already have, and a staging environment you have flags running in stays open. You are only stopped from adding another until you are back under the limit or you upgrade.
- What currency am I charged in?
- Prices here are US dollars. At checkout Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, bills in the currency that suits where you are, converting at their rate, which is what makes local methods like UPI, iDEAL and Bancontact available. The amount is shown before you confirm, and your invoice comes from Dodo.
- Can I self-host?
- Not yet. The SDK points at one base URL, so it is possible later, but nothing is built today.
